Contribution

I am the moderator for this project. I am the one who contribute the idea on how to create the board game and generate the flow on making it more interesting .Besides, I also attend all the meeting in order to keep track on the progress of the board game and make sure that all my member are stay awake and understand the objective of the board game. In order to make sure that everyone understand their role, I started to follow up whatever matter or obstacles that they meet .The most difficult task for me which is to create the high level of thinking element on the quiz questions for every players.

Reflection on Kinetic Reactor Design (week 1-week 7)

In my opinion, this subject is one of the fundamental subject for a chemical engineering student. In this subject, you will learn about mole balances, conversion and reactor sizing and also rate law and stoichiometry. Throughout these 5 weeks with Dr suzana, I had learn a lot on how to calculate rate law and stoichiometry table. Besides, I need to know more about batch system and flow system. She is a very responsible lecturer as she will give assignment on every class to make us more understanding and emphasis on the steps in order to get the correct answer. Her teaching style is good and I really learn a lot in her class. Therefore, my friends and I always sit in front and pay 100 percent concentration to get more interaction and get a clear picture on what she is teaching. This subject will surely benefit me as it will be keen in my future working life. I will try my best to secure get a good result in this subject so that I would not disappointed her.

Reflection on Kinetic Reactor Design (week 7-week 14)

The second part of KRD course is very interesting, Dr Tazli lecturer really provide a lot of challenging project and test to me .It is the first time I challenge myself to do beyond my limit to finish all the task given by him .The most challenging assignment is the “TAKE HOME TEST”, it really crack my nerve on doing this. I need to use high level of thinking to create the questions by changing the scenario to our human body. It is tough but I enjoy it a lot. Dr Tazli really explain all the case study or example in details , and the way he teach is definitely awesome as it focus on the process of learning meanwhile other lectures are more focusing towards the output. I hope I could do well in this subject.

Reflection on Control Process and Dynamic and Instrumentation (week 1-7)

Process control has become increasingly important in the process industries as a consequence of global competition, therefore i need to brush up and get more understanding on this subject .Throughout these 5 weeks with Dr Abbas, I learnt patiently on what he is teaching because it is a very tough subject for me .The steps by steps derivation of formulae and concept really hard for me and I still trying to adapt to it by more practices.  In chapter two “Dynamic Behavior of process”, it really take me more than two weeks to understand and learn the fundamental of it. Despite the toughest, I still manage to catch up with the pace of Dr Abbas. I hope that I could see a bigger picture of this subject and take more initiative to read and search more info on this subject.

Reflection on Control Process and Dynamic and Instrumentation (week 7-14)

In this few week, I learned more about feedback and feed forward control which mean how we can we improve and control the set point( the desire value) that we want . In feedback controller, we need to consider the dynamic behavior of the representative process and develop mathematical tools. It give a big overview on how to control the process of a plant. For example: we need to choose feedback or feed forward control system. After that, you need to think of to control the temperature, feed or pressure .Then we need to add on the valve, transmitter and controller. There are few type of controller such as PI, PID, PD and P controller, as we need to choose the most suitable controller to improve the system.

Reflection on Process Safety and Loss Prevention (week 1-7)

All of the manufacture or production industries need process safety and loss prevention guideline before they start their operation .From this statement , I would understand that how important is this subject to understand the hazard in industry areas and the proper way to prevent it. Throughout these 5 weeks with Dr Zulkarnain, I learn the importance of prevention and care when we deal with machine, tubular, and reactors. There are many ways to calculate the toxicity, hazard, industries hygiene control level. It is something that really shock me as we can calculate and prevent the uncertainties by choosing proper instrument and management. Besides, safety programs and engineering ethics are really vital by being emphasis a lot in each chapter to make sure we really understand it.

Reflection on Process Safety and Loss Prevention (week 7-14)

The second part of PSLP is on fire and explosion, HAZOP and safety & procedure. In this few chapters, I understand more on what a safety engineer do such as checking any leakage and how to handle any unpredictable condition happen. For example: the temperature in the reactor rise that effect the set point , the chemical engineer need to open the valve to allow cooling water enter the reactor. Besides, I also learn on how to deal with fire and explosion ;the safety precautions to be taken to prevent accidents happen.

Reflection on questions posted for KRD in the board game:

As mentioned, our board game is ‘Pipeline of Chemical Engineering, the player need to know the basic concept of this course as it is the fundamental of chemical engineering. In order to accomplish your mission by heading to the products from the raw materials via building pipeline, the player needs to solve kinetic reactor design questions. The questions are really based on the real incident that you will face in future and they are being rated from level 4 to level 6. The player will be excited in solving the question, as he will get more marks.

Reflection on questions posted for CPDIC in the board game:

For this part, we will taking consideration on the time taken to solve the questions as it more towards calculation and derivation formula. You need to really understand the fundamental of this subject in order to answer it.

Reflection on questions posted for PSLP in the board game:

Every engineer must understand well in this subject .Therefore, the questions prepared for this part is

related to your daily life. There are still some questions that you need to calculate to find the answer.

Reflection on 2nd  mini project.

In this project, I choose to become a recorder as my second role in this project. My task is to records the assignment, strategies and data for the project. The first task that I been assign is to go TESCO SERI ISKANDAR to collect the data about the waste they throw in daily basis. After having the data, then I start to ask my teammate to help me on the literature review and decided that the best solution is anaerobic digestion. I learned a lot on how to use HYSYS and also design our own reactor as we need to do our own survey and review on few researches and try to analyses and apply on this project. After finishing this project, I think that I am more understanding on what is reactor design and it is fun.Besides , i  aware that there are a lof of criteria we need to concern in  creating our reactor  as we need to insert in our  HAZOP Table .
