CONTRIBUTION

In this first project, I works as the recorder of the group. I am the one that jot down the strategies and plans as discussed during meeting, thus illustrate all the information through the design of our board game. I’m listening to all the ideas and suggestions, in order to create a simple and attractive, yet challenging game. For me, the hardest part of this project is to always being ready for any changes of plans, because I need to comply to the modification made in a very short time.

Reflection on CPDIC subject :

Control Process, Dynamic and Instrumentation Control (CPDIC) course is one of the core subject that should be learned by a chemical engineer before they get involved in the industry. Generally, this course comprehend on the right method to safely and efficiently control a process at desired operating conditions. Throughout the past 5 weeks, what I have learned that each process should have a control system that can managed or maintain the flow of the process accordingly. In order to be able to control the system, chemical engineer needs to know and identify the behavioral of the process, whether it is in steady state or in dynamic, and etc. In terms of learning during classes, up until now, I can still follow on what Dr Abbas had explained in Chapter 1 until Chapter 3, except the latest one, Chapter 4. In this chapter, students are required to combine the theoretical part of the subject with mathematical methods, which is for me, quite hard to understand that tedious derivation of maths. Despite of that, I have my own initiatives by referring to the text book, as there are lots of comprehensive and deep explanation about this chapter.

Reflection on KRD subject :

Kinetic and Reactor Design (KRD) course is also one of the main subject for the degree of Chemical Engineering. This course basically guide students on how design a reactor according to the process that we want, by taking into account the mole balances, rate laws, and stoichiometry of the process. Along these 5 weeks of learning with Dr Suzana, Alhamdulillah up until now, I still managed to solve problems that have been assigned by Dr Suzana. I love the way on how Dr Suzana guide all of us to calculate the concentration of end products of certain reaction, by combining all the steps described in the last few chapters. Also, I am interested on the lecturer’s approach, giving exercises about what that have been cover in the chapters, specifically in a session, with a deep explanation and comprehensive supervision from lecturers. Overall, I am still able to digest all the knowledge from this course, provided a profound enlightenment.

Reflection on  PSLP subject :

Process Safety and Loss Prevention course is also one of the main part in the Chemical Engineering. After going through 5 weeks with Dr Zulkarnain, I understand that how important is this subject so that we can prevent the hazard in industry areas. Also, I have been acknowledge on the significance of prevention, which is better than curing the catastrophe. In this course also, I am excited knowing that we can calculate and prevent the uncertainties by choosing proper instrument and management. . I hope that I could see a bigger picture of this subject because most of the exercise only included calculation, not theories.

Reflection on the board game :

Our board game is entitled as “Pipeline of Chemical Engineering” which is adapted and modified from a board games named “Ticket to Ride”. For me, this game is simply fun and interesting .The most important thing is that you have the challenges to answer questions that cover 3 core subjects as mentioned above. We have altered it to make it different from other board game as it is simple and interactive, yet challenging your mind. Plus, this game can be played with our mates, which I believe can strengthen our bond with our friends. In this game, you have to be brilliant in arranging strategies on how you want to compete each other by collecting the scores. Have it try and push your brain to the limit!

Reflection on questions posted for KRD in the board game :

Generally, we have set in this game, that in order to accomplish your mission, you have to head to the reactors through pipeline provided. Each pipeline comprises different questions from the 3 subjects mentioned before. The questions are specially made to test your critical thinking on how to solve this problems if it is really happening and it have its own rate from level 4 to level 6.

Reflection on questions posted for CPDIC in the board game :

For this course, we have decided to test the player on their ability to solve questions that is more towards calculation and derivation formula in a shortest time as they can. Through this approach, players need to have deep understanding on the fundamental of this subject.

Reflection on questions posted for PSLP in the board game :

For this last part, the questions prepared are more towards common thing in our daily. We believe that these questions would be bonus for the player. However, we are still included some questions that required player to calculate and their mathematical skill to solve it.
